The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has intercepted a significant shipment of prohibited drugs and arrested four individuals in connection with the case.
The seizure occurred at the Tweapease Police barrier along the Obuasi-Dunkwa highway on 13th February 2026.

The drugs, found in two sealed brown boxes, included 257 packs of 50mg tramadol, 58 packs of 250mg tramadol (Red), and 58 packs of 225mg tapendol (Royal). The driver, Joseph Nkrumah, 37, was immediately arrested, and during interrogation, he identified the owner as Perpetual, a resident of Ayamfuri in the Central Region.
The following day, 14th February, Perpetual appeared at the Tweapease barrier with three accomplices -Diana Mensah, 40; Abena Neyea, 43; and Nana Akua, 35 , carrying GH₵50,000 in an attempt to bribe the police.
All four were promptly arrested, and the cash retained for evidential purposes.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in court on 16th February 2026 under the Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851), relating to the prohibited sale of drugs, herbal products, and other controlled substances.
Deputy Commissioner of Police and Regional Commander, Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, warned that the Ashanti South terrain would remain hostile to criminal activities and urged the public to desist from engaging in illegal trade.
This operation highlights the region’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and ensuring accountability for those attempting to circumvent the law through bribery.
