Police arrest suspect in connection with murder of officer at Zebilla

The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.

According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 14, 2026, the arrest followed the deployment of a special team by the Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

The statement was signed by Chief Inspector Brigitte Babanawo, Public Relations Officer of the CID.

The suspect, identified as Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, aged 42, was arrested on 10th February 2026 during an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area in the Western Region.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the 8th February 2026 incident and was subsequently tracked to the Western Region by police operatives.

He is currently in police custody assisting with investigations and is expected to be put before court to face charges. Meanwhile, the Police say efforts have been intensified to apprehend other individuals believed to have been involved in the crime.
