In the wake of the Black Stars' 2-1 defeat against Cape Verde in the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), concerned Ghanaians are advising the team to elevate their performance in the upcoming matches.
The loss to Cape Verde places the Black Stars at the bottom of Group B with zero points, while Cape Verde leads the group with three points. Egypt and Mozambique follow with one point each after their draw game.
Expressing his disappointment, Mr. Alfred Ocran, a phone shop owner, emphasized the need for the team to rectify their performance in the next match.
“The players have to be aware that they have no choice than to get favorable results in their next match,” he stated, urging the Black Stars to embrace a “win mentality.”
Sports Analyst Mr. Peter Manu echoed similar sentiments, urging the Black Stars to intensify their training efforts and come back stronger in the subsequent matches.
“The outcome of the game was not what Ghanaians expected, and the team must make amends in their next match,” said Mr. Ocran, underlining the importance of meeting the expectations set by the President and the public.
