CLOGSAG urges government to conclude salary negotiations for local government staff

Mr Isaac Bampoe Addo, Executive Secretary of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association Ghana (), has called on the government to expedite negotiations on salaries and other conditions of service for Civil and Local Government staff.

Speaking during the Thanksgiving Service of the Association in on Thursday, Mr Addo emphasized the need for the government to address the economic challenges faced by workers in 2022 and 2023.

Mr. Addo highlighted the harsh economic downturn experienced by Ghana in 2022, with continued negative impacts in 2023, exacerbating the difficulties faced by workers.

He pointed to factors such as fluctuating fuel prices, escalating utility bills, rising food prices, and increasing rent charges, all contributing to a reduction in the real value of workers' remuneration.

Addressing the neglect of the Civil Service at both the Central and Local levels of governance, Mr Addo noted its role in Ghana's economic challenges that necessitated intervention from the .

He stated that the National Executive Committee of would convene immediately after the festive season to address members' concerns.

Mr. Addo reiterated the association's call to the government to eliminate the politicization of the Civil Service, emphasizing the negative impact it has had over the years.

He pledged that CLOGSAG would continue to remind the authorities of the imperative to depoliticize the services.

In a sermon during the Thanksgiving Service, Pastor Bayo, the Chaplain of CLOGSAG, encouraged Ghanaians to express gratitude for God's goodness regardless of economic situations.

Representatives from the Civil Service and Local Government service shared goodwill messages during the event, commending the leadership of CLOGSAG for its efforts in improving the conditions of its members.
