UK trade commissioner John Humphrey visits Ghana to boost trade and investment partnerships

The Trade Commissioner for Africa, John Humphrey, arrived in Ghana on Monday, September 22, for a three-day visit aimed at deepening UK-Ghana trade and investment partnerships across key sectors.

The visit coincides with Ghana’s renewed focus on economic transformation, including the launch of the BIG PUSH initiative and ongoing efforts under the 24-Hour Economy Programme. Humphrey’s engagements are intended to reinforce the UK’s commitment to building sustainable and mutually beneficial business partnerships.

Key activities during the visit include a site tour of AngloGold Ashanti in Obuasi as part of the UK-Ghana Mining Trade Mission, meetings with delegates from the recent UK-Ghana Healthcare Roadshow, and participation in the Developing Markets Associates (DMA) UK-Ghana Trade and Investment Mission. Over 20 UK companies, including Health Consultants International, Gapuma Group, PowerX Equipment, and GE HealthCare, are participating in the missions targeting mining, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, and technology sectors.

Ahead of the visit, John Humphrey said he looked forward to deepening collaboration and unlocking new opportunities for UK and Ghanaian businesses. British High Commissioner Dr Christian Rogg noted that the visit reflects the UK’s enduring relationship with Ghana and supports the country’s development agenda, including the 24-Hour Economy initiative.

By facilitating direct engagement between UK businesses and Ghanaian stakeholders, the visit seeks to translate partnership into practical outcomes that benefit both economies.
