Trade Ministry Advocates Economic and Spiritual Transformation at Let Africa Go Conference

The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has called for renewed efforts toward Africa‘s economic transformation through industrialisation, trade, agribusiness and innovation, while stressing the importance of moral values and faith in sustainable development.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, Deputy Minister Hon. Sampson Ahi made the call at the 2026 Let Africa Go Conference held at the Anagkazo Campus in Akwapim Mampong on May 14.

Addressing participants from across Africa and the diaspora, including policymakers, entrepreneurs, faith leaders and civil society actors, Hon. Ahi described the conference as a platform for advancing Africa’s socio-economic renewal under the theme, “A New Dawn for Africa: Pursuing Visionary Innovations for Continental Transformation.”

He noted that Africa was entering a new phase characterised by resilience, innovation and self-determination, adding that the continent’s long-standing image of poverty and underdevelopment should give way to a narrative driven by opportunity and growth.

According to him, Africa possesses enormous potential through its youthful population, abundant natural resources, entrepreneurial energy and spiritual heritage.

“The clarion call of ‘Let Africa Go’ is not just spiritual; it is deeply economic and developmental,” he stated, adding that Africans were increasingly taking ownership of development strategies tailored to the continent’s unique realities.

Hon. Ahi further highlighted the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) as a major opportunity for Africa to build a unified market capable of boosting economic growth, creating jobs and promoting shared prosperity across the continent.

He also stressed that economic progress must be guided by strong ethical principles and values, emphasising the role of faith-based organisations in promoting social cohesion, responsible leadership and national development.

“Development without values is not development. It is merely growth, and growth without direction can be as destructive as it is productive,” he said.

Also addressing the gathering, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim, commended churches and faith-based organisations for their contributions to education and healthcare in Ghana.

He called on religious institutions across Africa to support holistic development efforts and emphasised the need for investment in human resources and digital technology to drive the continent’s progress.

The Let Africa Go Movement seeks to promote spiritual, social and cultural revival across Africa through prayer, leadership development and strategic partnerships.
