The National Communications Authority (NCA) has suspended the operations of nine radio stations across the country for various infractions, following the expiration of a 30-day grace period granted by President John Dramani Mahama for defaulting stations to address violations of Ghana’s FM broadcasting laws and regulations.
According to the NCA, six stations failed, refused, and neglected to comply with the regulatory amnesty, taking no action to remedy the breaches. As a result, the authority has suspended the operations of Donplus Multimedia Limited (105.9 MHz, Ho), Dreams Ghana Media Limited (104.9 MHz, Kintampo), Jam Multimedia Limited (101.3 MHz, New Abirem), Jewel Group Limited (102.7 MHz, Duayaw Nkwanta), Kpandai Star Community Radio (107.3 MHz, Kpandai), and Unique Gateway Communication Limited (105.7 MHz, Nkawkaw).

In addition, three other stations were found to have failed to resolve breaches involving the unauthorised use of Studio-to-Transmitter Link (STL) frequencies and unapproved transmitter locations. These stations were operating without a Certificate of Compliance in violation of Regulation 54 of the Electronic Communications Regulations, 2011, L.I. 1991. They include Wontumi Multimedia Company Limited’s frequencies in Accra (95.9 MHz), Kumasi (101.3 MHz), and Takoradi (101.3 MHz).
The NCA emphasised that it will continue to monitor the broadcasting sector to ensure full compliance with authorisation conditions, as well as the laws and regulations governing broadcasting services in Ghana.
