Addressing journalists through a recorded presentation played at the SSNIT Media Connect engagement in Tamale, Mr Biney revealed that over 120,000 self-employed persons were enrolled on the SSNIT scheme in 2023.
The event, held as part of the nationwide rollout following the Social Security @60 launch in July, aimed to strengthen dialogue between SSNIT and media practitioners in northern Ghana and promote responsible reporting on social protection issues.
Mr Biney described Social Security @60 as a renewed national commitment, stating that it represents “a promise to protect the dignity of your work and to secure the future of generations to come.”
He noted that SSNIT currently operates 57 branches nationwide and has partnered with several banks to extend its reach. He also announced plans for a 24/7 virtual branch that will enable customers to access SSNIT services at any time.
Speaking at the event, General Manager of Operations Frank Molbila highlighted SSNIT’s position as the single largest institutional investor on the Ghana Stock Exchange, underscoring its influence on national development.
