The ship is expected to play a key role in strengthening energy security while improving the availability of LPG for households and businesses.
The initiative forms part of a broader collaboration involving Ghanaian and Nigerian partners as well as Korean shipbuilding expertise. The vessel was developed by Sahara Energy, a Nigerian energy company, as part of efforts to enhance energy infrastructure and regional cooperation.
Ablakwa congratulated John Dramani Mahama and Sahara Energy for what he described as a forward-looking initiative aimed at boosting the country’s energy capacity while creating employment opportunities for Ghanaians.
He noted that the project reflects the benefits of strong international partnerships and demonstrates how cooperation among countries in Africa and Asia can support economic growth, improve energy access and create jobs.
The arrival of the “Asharami Ghana” LPG vessel is expected to contribute to the government’s efforts to expand cleaner cooking fuel access and strengthen Ghana’s long-term energy security strategy.
