Woman arrested for alleged possession of GH¢200 counterfeit notes in Kwashiman, Accra

Authorities in Accra have arrested a woman suspected of possessing counterfeit currency in the Kwashiman area.

The Ghana Police Service confirmed that the suspect was apprehended after police received intelligence regarding the circulation of fake GH¢200 notes in the locality. During a routine check, officers recovered the alleged counterfeit bills from the individual.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is assisting authorities with ongoing investigations. The police have warned members of the public to be vigilant when accepting large denominations and to report any suspicious transactions.

This arrest forms part of broader efforts by law enforcement to curb the circulation of counterfeit currency in Ghana, which can undermine economic stability and public confidence.

The police have assured the public that investigations will continue, and anyone found complicit in producing or distributing counterfeit money will face prosecution.
