The Agortime Ziope District in the Volta Region is poised to emerge as a significant investment hub, boasting the potential for cross-national trade with neighboring Togo.
Recognized for its thriving tomato crop and as the birthplace of the traditional African weave cloth, Kente, the district presents promising investment prospects.
Speaking at the ongoing Volta Trade and Investment Fair, Mr. Ruben K. Akuffo, the District Coordinating Director, highlighted the district's diverse agricultural strengths, stating, “Aside from tomatoes, the area flourishes with other major staples.”
The district's fame for fabric production, particularly Kente, has fueled a tourism buzz, drawing thousands from around the world to witness the intricate weave and vibrant designs.
Mr. Akuffo emphasized the continuous growth of tomato production in the district, urging stakeholders to realize the long-sought dream of establishing a processing machine.
He stated, “The farmers in the district have vast experience in tomato production and can cultivate the right varieties to feed a processing factory, adding value to the produce and creating jobs.”
The strategic elevation of the district facilitates wave communication in the region, hosting the mega masts of various mobile communication networks and the training school of the nation's revenue authority.
Highlighting the district's investment potential, Mr. Akuffo invited everyone to consider Agortime Ziope as their investment destination, stating, “The district is strategically located for investment in agriculture, industry, and tourism.”
Participating in the 2023 Volta Fair, the district showcased its renowned Kente fabric, with traditional wooden looms attracting attention.
The event, organized by the Association of Ghana Industries, the Volta Regional Coordinating Council, and the African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, features over 400 entities, including major state agencies and local and foreign businesses. The fair expects a patronage exceeding 20,000 by the end of the two-week stint.
