Frederick Sarfo urges alumni to play integral role in university development: Ghana News

Professor Frederick Sarfo, Vice Chancellor of the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (), has urged the university's alumni to actively contribute to the institution's growth and reputation.

Speaking at the annual general meeting of the alumni in , Prof. Sarfo emphasized the critical role alumni play in the development and transformation of a university.

He highlighted the university's commitment to supporting the alumni community, citing the placement of the alumni association under the Directorate of Research, International Programme, and Institutional Advancement. Additionally, an Assistant Registrar has been appointed to oversee alumni affairs, demonstrating the importance the university places on alumni issues.

The meeting, held under the theme “Towards the growth of a new university: The role of the alumni,” addressed plans to allocate office space for the alumni association. Prof. Sarfo commended the members for their continuous support to the university.

Prof. Isaac Boateng, Acting Director of the Institute of Teacher Professional Development and Life-long Learning, urged the alumni association's leadership to establish an online system for continuous contact with students after graduation. He also suggested the creation of an alumni conference to facilitate networking and provide career guidance and mentoring to current students.

Ms. Millicent Pimpong, Vice President of the Association, disclosed plans to renovate an abandoned hostel at the Autonomy Hall annex to benefit students. Additionally, the leadership aims to organize professional development programs and alumni homecoming activities to engage a broader audience of alumni.
