NPP calls for probe into alleged misuse of DRIP machines in Nkwanta South

Mr Stephen Kofi Obikyenbi Junior, Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nkwanta South, Oti Region, has called for an investigation into the use of the constituency’s District Road Improvement Project (DRIP) machines.

Invoking the Right to Information Act 2019 (Act 989), he demanded clarity over allegations that Mr Geoffrey Kini, Member of Parliament for the area, was deploying DRIP machines for a private building project.

The request was submitted in a letter dated November 17, 2025, addressed to the Coordinating Director of the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The letter sought copies of work orders and job sheets authorising the use of the machines, records of fuel consumption, maintenance, and operator logs, as well as any correspondence between the assembly and the MP’s office regarding the alleged deployment.

It emphasised the need for transparency and public accountability, stating: “The people of Nkwanta South deserve to know whether public resources meant for development are being diverted for personal gain.”
