Jonathan Sowah ignited hope for the ‘Mauve and Yellow' with an opening goal in the 24th minute of the game. However, Ocansey Mandela swiftly equalized for the home side just two minutes later.
In the 76th minute, Horoya found the net for a second time, but their efforts fell short of forcing the game into extra time as Medeama held their ground.
This achievement marks a significant milestone for Medeama SC, as they become the first Ghanaian club in over a decade to reach the group stages of the CAF Champions League since Berekum Chelsea accomplished the feat in 2012.
It is the second time that Medeama has made it to this stage of Africa's premier club competition, with their previous appearance in the 2016 CAF Champions League.
Following their qualification to the group stages, Medeama SC will now shift their focus to the Ghana Premier League.
They are scheduled to host Nations FC at Akoon Park next Wednesday as they aim to maintain their domestic campaign's momentum.
