Four out of the eight Senior High School headteachers in the Ashanti Region, who were interdicted for allegedly charging unauthorized fees, have been transferred by the Ghana Education Service (GES) following investigations into the accusations.

The interdictions, which occurred in December 2023, stemmed from allegations of charging students various unapproved fees, including house dues, books, calculators, admission process fees, and printing costs for slips, files, and hymn books.

Sulemana Yeboah, the Ashanti Regional president of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), revealed that the GES made the decision after conducting investigations into the allegations.

He stated, “They [GES] have taken the decision where four of them [the headteachers] have been asked to go to their various schools and four of them have been swapped from their former schools to different schools.”

Yeboah further detailed the transfers, indicating changes in leadership positions at various schools in the region.

CHASS previously criticized the Ghana Education Service's handling of some headteachers amidst the allegations, particularly concerning the lack of communication with affected individuals. Many headteachers reportedly did not receive formal notification of their indictment despite widespread media coverage of the allegations against them.
