NPC schedules Congress for October 4

The highly anticipated 2024 National Paralympic Committee (NPC) elections are set to take place on Friday, October 4, 2024. This announcement was made during the NPC's “Extraordinary General Assembly” convened on Saturday, April 20, at the Airport West View Hotel in .

During the assembly, NPC members unanimously agreed on the annual affiliation fees for membership, fixing it at GH¢ 1,000. Various critical issues were deliberated upon, including the approval of Annual Membership Fees, the approval of new Para Sports Associations, and amendments to Article Two Membership: Sections 1 to 5.

Mr. Samson Deen, President of the NPC, expressed appreciation to all federations in attendance and urged them to dedicate themselves to the development of para-sports. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and collective effort in advancing the interests of athletes with disabilities.

Mr. Evans Opoku Bobie, Deputy Minister of , reiterated the government's unwavering support for sports development across the country. He emphasized the government's commitment to creating an inclusive society and urged NPC members to unite for the advancement of para-sports.

Addressing the internal challenges within the NPC, Mr. Bobie assured that the government was actively working towards resolving issues to ensure a conducive environment for disabled athletes to compete in all competitions. He encouraged NPC executives to uphold the decisions made at the assembly and work diligently towards their goals.

The Extraordinary General Assembly served as a platform for NPC members to address pertinent issues and set the stage for the upcoming elections. With a shared commitment to inclusivity and excellence, the NPC aims to further elevate para sports in Ghana and provide opportunities for athletes with disabilities to thrive on the national and international stage.
