Residents express gratitude for reopening of Kuotokrom-Yawhima road project

Residents living along the Kuotokorm-Yawhima stretch in the Municipality have expressed profound gratitude to President Nana Addo Dankwa for the resumption of work on the 10-kilometer Kuotokrom-Yawhima road. They also lauded Mr Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, the Member of for East, for his responsiveness to their concerns, describing him as a “listening MP.”

During a visit to the project site at Kuotokrom, near Sunyani, residents shared their appreciation with the Ghana Agency (GNA), expressing delight at the progress of work on the road. Contractors have resumed work, with one lane of the dual carriage road undergoing tarring works, while levelling work on the other lane has been completed to prepare for prima sealing.

Nana Ameyaa Ansu Gyeabour, the Queen-mother of Kobedi Number One, a community along the stretch, recalled making a passionate appeal to the MP for the road project last year. She expressed joy that her appeal had been positively received, emphasizing the significant improvement in the living conditions of residents.

Residents highlighted the adverse impact of the dusty nature of the road on businesses, with many food vendors and hairdressers along the stretch suffering losses due to reduced patronage. However, there is optimism among residents that the road project will not be abandoned again and will be completed for use.

Contractors working on the dual carriage road project have assured the completion and handover of the project this year. Mr Dominic Afriyie, the site Engineer of SAMES Construction Limited, indicated that significant progress had been made, with about 2.4 kilometres of the stretch tarred, and anticipated completion by Wednesday, March 20.

Mr. John Ansu Kumi, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, pledged to facilitate the completion of the road project and urged taxpayers in the municipality to fulfil their tax obligations to generate revenue for development. He emphasized that tax compliance is crucial for the assembly to meet its developmental objectives.
