Mr Moh Damush, Group CEO of Telecel Group, has expressed confidence that the company will soon emerge as a market leader in the Ghanaian telecommunications industry following its takeover from Vodafone Ghana.
In a statement during the official unveiling of Telecel Ghana in Accra, Mr Damush emphasized that Ghana's operation would be the company's top priority. Telecel Ghana has acquired 70% ownership of Ghana Telecom from Vodafone Ghana, while Ghana Telecom retains a 30% shareholding.
The takeover involves Telecel Ghana assuming control of Vodafone's fixed telephone lines, internet services, voice and data services, as well as cash transfer and other business services.
Mr Damush outlined three main focus areas for the Telecel Group: improving digital access and literacy, fostering innovations, and championing sustainability activities. He highlighted plans to integrate eco-friendly technologies and practices into operations and strengthen the Telecel Foundation's impact on education and tech empowerment for small businesses.
Madam Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Telecel Ghana, announced initiatives aimed at enhancing connectivity and services to position Telecel as the preferred choice in the country. Initiatives include the launch of 4G plus connectivity and an expansion of retail presence, with the number of shops increasing from 30 to 150, with a target of 500 by year-end.
Mrs Obo-Nai emphasized that these initiatives are geared towards offering the public improved connectivity and experiences. She also unveiled Telecel's brand promise, which guarantees customers a unique service delivery experience and introduces Telecel Play, a mobile app offering digital innovations and mobile financial services.
