Plan International Ghana has concluded a six-day capacity-building training for youth-led groups within its Southern Programme Influencing and Impact Area (SPIIA) in Ho, Volta Region.
As partners of Plan International Ghana, these youth-led groups were equipped with essential knowledge and skills to drive significant changes in their communities.
Mr. William Domapielle, Programme Officer of Plan International Ghana, highlighted the organization's primary goal of ensuring equality in society. He emphasized the significance of the training in ensuring that youth-led groups adhere to Plan International Ghana's guidelines and policies as partners.
The training, attended by participants from various youth-led groups, covered critical topics such as Plan's safeguarding policy, child protection, gender issues, financial management, and communication strategies.
Mr Adamu Abubakari, Child Protection and Safeguarding Specialist at Plan International Ghana underscored the importance of protecting children in Plan's work. He stressed the establishment of systems to ensure children's safety and protection in the face of prevalent violence.
The training aimed to empower participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to establish a secure environment for children and marginalized members of society, promote equal rights, and ensure transparency and accountability in project execution.
Communication strategies were also emphasized to amplify the impact of community initiatives and showcase them to the wider world.
The training aligns with Plan International Ghana's commitment to empowering two million girls and fostering empowered, knowledgeable, and influential youth-led groups to contribute to positive change in their communities.
Participants expressed excitement about the program, stating that they had gained valuable insights to successfully implement their initiatives.
