In a tragic turn of events, well-known Ghanaian football spiritualist, Otabil, popularly known as Joe Moromo, collapsed and died from shock following 's equalizer against Ghana in the U23  tournament.

The incident occurred during the match between Ghana and , which took place in .

According to an eyewitness who spoke to Ghana Sports Online, Otabil was an ardent Ghanaian football fan, passionately urging Ibrahim Tanko's side to secure qualification for the tournament's semifinals.

Ghana had taken the lead through Emmanuel Yeboah, a striker based in Romania, in the 33rd minute and seemed to be on track for a spot in the last four.

However, the moment of shock struck Otabil around the hour mark when Ibrahima Breze, a Sweden-based player, scored for Guinea from a second ball that went unattended by the Ghanaian defenders.

The passionate football fan collapsed on the floor, and those around him rushed to his aid. Despite immediate attempts at first aid, the situation could not be salvaged.

Otabil was swiftly taken to a hospital in Swedru for medical attention, but unfortunately, he did not survive the night. He was pronounced dead around midnight.
