Mahama swears in Council of State members, appoints Doe Adjaho as chairman

Former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho

President John Dramani Mahama has sworn in former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo and 30 other distinguished individuals as members of the Council of State.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Jubilee House in Accra on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, marks a significant step in Ghana’s governance, with the new Council expected to provide critical advice and guidance to the President on national matters.

Former Speaker of Parliament, Edward Doe Adjaho, has been appointed Chairman of the Council. The newly inducted members bring a wealth of expertise from various sectors, including law, academia, business, and civil society, reinforcing the Council’s role in strengthening governance structures.

The event was attended by key government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from different sectors of society.
