Akosombo Fire - GridCo CEO asked to step aside, ECG leadership faces shake-up

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Honourable John Jinapor, has directed the Chief Executive Officer of GRIDCo to step aside pending investigations into a fire incident at the Akosombo power control centre.

The directive forms part of immediate actions taken following the incident, which has raised concerns about operations within Ghana’s power management system.

In a related development, there has been a major shake-up in the leadership of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Ashanti Region.

The Minister is expected to provide further details during a scheduled briefing at 2 PM tomorrow, where he will address recent developments in electricity distribution.
