Honourable Ablakwa congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and highlighted key projects initiated under his predecessor, including the Aflao Market and the Damongo University. He expressed hope that the new envoy would take the necessary steps to ensure their timely completion.

The Minister also indicated Ghana’s readiness to explore new areas of cooperation, particularly in environmental reclamation and public education initiatives aimed at addressing illegal mining. He noted that increasing trade volumes between the two countries present opportunities for growth and expressed optimism that the implementation of a zero-tariff policy would support industrial development and help reduce Ghana’s trade deficit.

In response, Ambassador Cong Song reaffirmed China’s commitment to strengthening trade relations and people-to-people exchanges. He stated that processes for implementing the zero-tariff arrangement were at an advanced stage and would create new opportunities to boost Ghana’s exports to China.

The Ambassador assured that China remains committed to completing ongoing projects on schedule, as agreed between both countries, and emphasised that China does not support illegal mining.

Both sides reiterated their commitment to continued collaboration to promote development.
