The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has initiated an investigation into alleged vote-buying and electoral malpractice during the recent parliamentary primaries of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The probe follows reports of inducements offered to delegates in key constituencies, which, if proven, could constitute violations of electoral laws and party regulations.

The OSP’s intervention aims to ensure accountability, protect the integrity of internal party elections, and uphold public confidence in Ghana’s democratic processes.

Officials from the OSP confirmed that both party officials and candidates are being asked to cooperate fully with investigators. The investigation will examine all relevant evidence, including financial transactions, communications, and testimonies from delegates and other stakeholders involved in the primaries.

The Special Prosecutor’s office emphasized that the probe is impartial and independent, reinforcing its mandate to tackle corruption and related offenses without fear or favor. Ghanaian citizens have been urged to provide credible information to assist with the investigation.

No final determination has been made, and the OSP has indicated that appropriate legal action will follow based on the findings of the inquiry. The development underscores ongoing efforts to maintain transparency and fairness in Ghana’s electoral and political landscape.
