The 27th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards Ceremony, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the primary sponsor, GCB Bank, is set to celebrate the outstanding work of journalists in 2022.
The event will revolve around the theme: “Leveraging media freedom to sustain the democratic and security architecture: The litmus test of election 2024.”
Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the GJA, expressed his appreciation for GCB's support and highlighted their longstanding partnership with the association.
He stated, “As far as the Awards are concerned, we are happy that they are back to support a worthy cause. It marks a new era for our partnership, and this will further strengthen the relationship between the two institutions.”
Mr Dwumfour extended his gratitude to other sponsors, including National Security, EOCO, ADB, Tobbinco Pharmacy, and Ghana Gas, for their support.
Mrs. Jessie Jacintho from the Legal Department of GCB, while presenting the sponsorship cheque, emphasized that supporting the GJA, especially in challenging times, signifies the Bank's trustworthiness.
She noted that the sponsorship reflects the bank's commitment to supporting good governance and media freedom. The awards ceremony promises to recognize and celebrate the dedication and excellence of journalists in their vital role of upholding democracy and national security in the lead-up to the 2024 elections.
