Mr. , the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in , has offered a heartfelt tribute to the late Mr. Felix Owusu-Adjapong, a former Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in .

In his tribute, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu expressed deep admiration for the late Mr. Owusu-Adjapong, recognizing his significant contributions to Ghana's socioeconomic development and the consolidation of democratic governance.

The Majority Leader reflected on the first week of October 2023, describing it as a period filled with anguish and challenges for both the New Patriotic Party () and the nation as a whole.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu recounted that the Parliamentary Association had scheduled its Annual Conference in from September 30 to October 6, 2023.

The Ghana branch had extended invitations to former Speakers of the Ghanaian Parliament and former Leaders of the House, including Mr. Owusu-Adjapong.

He recalled that on the evening of October 3, Speaker had inquired about the attendance of these dignitaries and was informed that Mr. Owusu-Adjapong had not yet confirmed his participation.

The unexpected of Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's passing came on October 4, 2023, just one day after this conversation with Speaker Bagbin.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu highlighted Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's dedication to achieving results, especially during his tenure as Leader of Government Business.

He stressed that Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's leadership prioritized fulfilling the government's social contract with the people, as outlined in its manifesto.

He also emphasized Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's unwavering commitment to increasing the number of members in Parliament, which significantly contributed to expanding the party's representation in the chamber.

The Majority Leader praised Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's instrumental role in mobilizing funds for the party, particularly through the “Mission 2000” initiative, which supported orphan constituencies and resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of NPP members in Parliament.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu acknowledged Mr. Owusu-Adjapong's service under two Speakers and his presidential aspirations within the NPP.

He noted that after his presidential bid, Mr. Owusu-Adjapong served as the Minister for Energy before exiting the Executive and Parliament in January 2009, leading a quiet life since then.

The Majority Leader concluded his tribute with a heartfelt prayer for the late Mr. Owusu-Adjapong, saying, “Senior Felix! May your soul rest in perfect peace.”

Mr. Felix Owusu-Adjapong was not only a respected figure in Ghanaian but also a key contributor to the nation's legislative and governance processes.
