The GaDangme Council has officially refuted President 's recent assertion regarding the birthplace of Tetteh Quarshie, a key historical figure credited with introducing cocoa to Ghana. The President had stated during the 67th Independence Day celebration in Koforidua on March 6 that Tetteh Quarshie hailed from Mampong Akuapem in the .

In a released statement signed by President Nii Ayikoi Otoo, the GaDangme Council contested the President's claim, presenting historical records that unequivocally establish Tetteh Quarshie's birthplace as Osu in the Greater Region. The Council expressed concern about the discrepancy between the President's statement and well-documented historical facts, emphasizing that it has led to confusion.

According to the statement, Tetteh Quarshie's ties to Osu are supported by numerous historical sources, even though some occasionally link it to Teshie. The Council stressed that in both scenarios, Tetteh Quarshie remains of pure Ga extraction.

Furthermore, the Council argued that the President's assertion lacks substantial evidence and contradicts established historical accounts. They emphasized the importance of correcting this misinformation to ensure the accuracy of historical narratives and to preserve the legacy of individuals who have made significant contributions to society.

“It is crucial to correct this misinformation and set the record straight regarding the origins of Tetteh Quarshie. By spreading this inaccurate information, we risk distorting our understanding of history and undermining the legacy of individuals who have made significant contributions to our society.
