Ghana’s 4x100m men’s relay team narrowly missed out on a medal after placing fourth in the finals at the 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan.
The quartet of Ibrahim Fuseni, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, and Abdul Rasheed Saminu clocked 37.93 seconds in a tightly contested race run under harsh weather conditions. The USA clinched gold with a time of 37.29s, Canada followed in 37.55s, while the Netherlands secured bronze with 37.81s.

The Ghanaian team entered the final with high confidence, having set a new national record of 37.79s in the semi-final, where they finished first. But their effort was not enough to end Ghana’s 20-year medal drought at the World Athletics Championship, dating back to Helsinki 2005 when Ignatius Gaisah won silver and Margaret Simpson claimed bronze.
In other events, Ghana’s Rose Yeboah, a two-time African Games gold medallist, finished 15th in the women’s high jump final. She was unsuccessful in her attempt to clear 1.93 metres, bowing out of the competition without a podium place.
