Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team has been stripped of a bronze medal at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games after Canada successfully appealed its disqualification.
Ghana had briefly moved from fourth to third after Canada, which originally finished second, was disqualified by race officials. Nigeria was promoted to silver, while Ghana’s quartet of Joseph Paul Amoah, Ibrahim Fuseini, Barnabas Aggerh, and Benjamin Azamati, who clocked 38.13 seconds, was elevated to bronze.

The medal would have been Ghana’s first Commonwealth Games podium finish in the men’s 4x100m relay since 1974.
However, Canada’s successful appeal restored the original results, with Australia winning gold, Canada taking silver, and Nigeria claiming bronze.
The ruling dropped Ghana back to fourth place, ending its hopes of a historic relay medal despite recording an impressive time of 38.13 seconds in the final.
