Black Stars move one point from 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification after 5-0 thrashing of Central African Republic in Morocco

Ghana’s Black Stars inched closer to qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a commanding 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic (CAR) in Morocco, maintaining their three-point lead atop Group I.

The match saw a tight first half, with Salisu narrowly missing a chance in the 15th minute from Mohammed Kudus’ corner. Five minutes later, the Monaco defender redeemed himself, heading in a corner from Kudus to give Ghana the lead. Despite attempts from Kwasi Sibo and Alexander Djiku, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.

Ghana dominated the second half, with Thomas Partey doubling the lead after connecting with a pass from captain Jordan Ayew. CAR’s first real effort came in the 64th minute but failed to test goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

Ayew then set up Alexander Djiku for Ghana’s third before scoring himself to make it 4-0. Three minutes from full time, substitutes Joseph Paintsil and Kamaldeen Sulemana combined to seal a 5-0 victory.
