23rd Accra Senior Open Tennis Championship begins with intense opening-day contests at Accra Tennis Lawn Club

The 23rd Accra Senior Open Tennis Championship has commenced at the Accra Tennis Lawn Club, launching Day One with a series of competitive and energetic matchups.

Speaking to GNA Sport, Mr Peter Annan, Coordinator of the tournament, said this year’s edition features social, semi-professional and professional competitors. The men’s singles draw includes age categories 25–34, 35–44, 45–54, 55–65, and 65+, while the women’s singles competition covers 39, 40–49, and 50+ brackets.

Semi-professional singles events are reserved for players aged 30–40 and 41+. In the doubles division, the men will compete across age groups from 35–44 up to 75+, while the women’s doubles categories include groups up to 39, 40+, as well as semi-professional classes for players 30–40 and 41+.

Mr Annan appealed to corporate organisations to support the championship and help make the 23rd edition a success.

This year’s tournament is organised under the auspices of the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) in collaboration with the Accra Lawn Tennis Club and other key partners.
