The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has accused the government of applying double standards in the administration of justice following the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit and discharge former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party described the ruling as politically motivated, arguing that it reinforces what it claims is a pattern of selective justice under the current administration.

The NPP questioned how Sedina Tamakloe, who was convicted by the High Court in April 2024 after a five-year trial, could be acquitted after being extradited from the United States in June 2026.

According to the party, the trial court found that her actions as MASLOC Chief Executive between 2013 and 2016 caused financial losses of nearly GH¢90 million to the state. It maintained that the evidence presented during the trial was substantial and that the acquittal undermines the work of investigators and prosecutors.

The party further claimed that the Attorney-General has consistently discontinued or withdrawn cases involving individuals linked to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), while continuing to prosecute former officials of the previous NPP administration.

The NPP called on the Attorney-General to publicly account for all cases involving government-affiliated individuals that have been withdrawn or discontinued since January 2025.

It also urged the Judicial Council and the leadership of the Judiciary to take steps to restore public confidence in the justice system, arguing that recent developments have raised concerns about impartiality.

The party said it would explore all available legal avenues, including a possible review before the Supreme Court where applicable, insisting that the fight against corruption must be conducted fairly and without political influence.
