“I know his mind, his character, and his love for Ghana,” the former President stated, adding that Dr. Bawumia possesses the intellectual depth, discipline, and patriotic spirit required to lead the nation at this critical stage of its development.

Akufo-Addo noted that Dr. Bawumia’s role in shaping key economic and digital transformation policies over the past years demonstrates his readiness to lead the country.

He highlighted initiatives in digitisation, financial inclusion, and public sector reforms as evidence of the Vice President’s forward-looking approach to governance.

The former President also called on members and supporters of the New Patriotic Party to unite behind Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing that party cohesion will be crucial as the NPP prepares for the 2028 general elections. According to him, unity, discipline, and shared purpose remain the party’s strongest assets.

Dr. Bawumia’s victory in the primaries has been widely described as decisive, positioning him as the flagbearer of the NPP and the party’s leading candidate for the presidency. Party leaders and stakeholders across the country have since pledged their support, echoing calls for reconciliation and collective effort.

Akufo-Addo concluded by expressing confidence that with the support of the party and the Ghanaian people, Dr. Bawumia will continue to serve the nation with dedication and a clear sense of purpose, guided by his commitment to national progress and democratic values.
