Police arrest 6, including PRESEC Legon students, in staged kidnapping incident

The has apprehended six individuals, four of whom are juveniles and students of the prestigious Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (, Legon) in , for orchestrating a fake kidnapping.

According to a statement released by the Police, the two adults among the suspects have been identified as Isaac Kissi Adjei, also known as Kofi Black, and Courage Teiko, alias Timmy. The investigation, which was propelled by intelligence, revealed a meticulously planned scheme aimed at extorting a significant sum of money.

Preliminary findings suggest that one of the juvenile suspects initiated the scheme as a means to acquire funds for overseas . Collaborating with others, they engineered a false kidnapping, targeting the alleged victim's parents for ransom.

“The group demanded an exorbitant sum of GH₵ 340,000 as ransom,” the police stated. However, their plot was only partially successful, as they managed to secure GH₵20,000 of the demanded amount.

The identities of the juvenile perpetrators have been withheld, as per standard practice. Furthermore, their parents and guardians have been informed of the situation, as the police continue their investigation into the incident.
