The Judicial Service measures what it calls the Resolution Rate (the percentage of all cases before a court during the year that the court concluded). All cases means old cases plus newly filed cases during the reporting year.
Here are some interesting facts culled from the Judicial Service’s 2022/2023 caseload statistics.

The Supreme Court had 939 cases and a resolution rate of 36.6%.
The Court of Appeal had 5,570 cases and a resolution rate of 29.5%.
The High Court (General) had 36,853 cases and a resolution rate of 24.7%.
The High Court (Specialized) had 14,470 cases and a resolution rate of 24.6%.
The Circuit Courts had 51,859 cases and a resolution rate of 43.8%.
The District Courts had 146,486 cases and a resolution rate of 60.6%.
The High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court constitute the Superior Court. The Circuit and District Courts are the Lower Courts.
The Vacation issue that we have been discussing applies only to the Superior Court not the Lower Courts.
The Lower Courts operate throughout the year, with judges, magistrates and lawyers arranging their individual vacations without the courts themselves going on a two-month vacation.
