The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, has issued a stern warning to parliamentary aspirants against camping delegates ahead of the constituency primary scheduled for Saturday, January 27.
He emphasized that candidates engaging in such activities would face sanctions.
Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi ahead of the primary, Mr. Kodua stated that the party was actively working to address outstanding issues and petitions filed by some members regarding the upcoming primary.
Additionally, he cautioned delegates against capturing their ballots using phones, stating, “Those who take pictures of their votes, aside from nullifying the votes, it is an offense and you would be handed over to the police.”
Mr. Kodua further announced that elections in the Nhyiaeso constituency would proceed following the discontinuation of a court case filed against the party by a polling station executive.
Highlighting the party's commitment to ensuring free and fair elections, Mr. Kodua emphasized, “It is of this belief that we have made the statement that no one should camp delegates at any place.”
In conclusion, the NPP General Secretary cautioned party members to avoid making derogatory public utterances against the chieftaincy institution.
