Phyllis Naa Koryoo Okunor, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary candidate for Senya Awutu East (Kasoa), known as “The Woman,” has made a heartfelt appeal to her constituents and the Ghanaian youth, urging them not to be swayed by alleged falsehoods from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and to make informed choices in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a robust rally in Kasoa after an intense day of campaigning, Naa Koryoo, a prominent Human Rights lawyer and a native of Kasoa, emphasized the importance of rejecting vote-buying and focusing on issues that impact the lives of the youth and the future of the country.
Speaking passionately, Naa Koryoo highlighted the challenges faced by the youth under the current government, citing what she termed as mismanagement, misrule, and brutality by the Nana Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration.
She urged the youth not to succumb to promises of “MILK AND HONEY NOW” from the NPP, emphasizing that such assurances often fade after elections.
Drawing attention to incidents of brutality, Naa Koryoo referenced the Ayawaso West Wogon by-election and recent gunshots fired at a polling station, criticizing what she sees as the normalization of lawlessness by the ruling party.
Directly addressing first-time voters, particularly Generation Z, Naa Koryoo encouraged them to actively engage in politics, demand accountability from leaders, and reject intimidation tactics.
She expressed concern about the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, urging the NPP to account for funds spent during this challenging period.
Naa Koryoo put forward a policy proposal for vocational training and education in all 10 Technical Universities to equip the youth with essential skills.
She announced the endorsement of this proposal by President John Mahama and Vice-Presidential candidate Naana Jane, emphasizing that accountability and anti-corruption would be guiding principles under the incoming NDC administration.
Expressing emotion, Naa Koryoo underscored her commitment to an inclusive government that addresses the needs of all citizens, especially vulnerable groups.
She concluded her speech by affirming her belief that Ghanaians, particularly the youth, would vote for John Mahama and Naana Jane to overcome the challenges facing the country.
