Dr , Member of for Tano North constituency, has taken steps to construct two major storm drains in the Duayaw-Nkwanta Zongo area of the Region after a five-year-old boy was washed away due to poor drainage systems and uncontrolled erosion.

During an inspection visit, Dr Prempeh said that although the construction of the drainage system was expensive, it was necessary to protect residents, particularly children of school-going age, from such disasters in the future, and pledged to fund the project.

“Life is precious and as an MP, I can't look unconcerned for another disaster to strike before the authorities at the Tano North Municipal Assembly sit up,” she said, emphasizing that was meant for development and calling on the people to vote for her and the New Patriotic Party () in the to receive more projects in the area.

The project, being executed by the Feeder Roads Department, includes two storm drains measuring 34 and 36 metres each and is expected to be completed within six months, providing decent jobs for some of the youth in the area.

Residents expressed their gratitude for the project, with Salifu Seid stating that they had made several appeals to the Municipal Assembly without success.

In addition to the storm drains, Dr Prempeh also cut the sod for a kindergarten block at Kofi-Nkrankrom, a community in the constituency, where school children had to trek for hours to attend classes, and promised to furnish the facility with tables, chairs, and other teaching and learning materials.

The facility is expected to be completed within three months and includes two classroom blocks, toilet and urinal facilities for boys and girls, and a teacher's office, with Dr Prempeh emphasizing that nothing should deny children of school-going age access to formal education.

Mr Ekow Quansah, the Tano North Municipal Director of Education, lauded the MP's commitment towards enhancing the development of education in the Municipality but noted that many of the schools in remote communities also needed ' accommodation to encourage posting in those areas.
