The Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business in , Mr. , has emphasized the critical need for a comprehensive review of the 1992 Republican Constitution, stating that the survival of the constitution largely depends on this holistic process.

In a statement marking the celebration of the Fourth Republican on January 7, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu urged Ghanaians to collectively commit to the constitutional review.

He acknowledged the efforts of those involved in crafting, activating, implementing, interpreting, and reviewing the Constitution.

“As one people in one nation with a common destiny, it must be our collective strategic imperative to ensure the survival of Constitutionalism,” he affirmed.

Highlighting his 31 years of continuous interaction with the 1992 Constitution, the Majority Leader noted the paradox of its initial implementation under an unconstitutional regime.

He stressed that the experiences garnered over the years underscore the importance of consolidating and harmonizing all efforts and attempts at amending and reviewing the Constitution.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu concluded, “Today, January 7, 2024, marks 31 continuous years of intimate interaction with the 1992 Constitution, and it is my conviction that all efforts must be brought to fruition.”
