Kenyan President William Ruto announces visa-free travel for Africans

The President of , William Ruto, has declared that Africans will no longer need visas to visit by the end of 2023.

During an address in Congo-Brazzaville, President Ruto emphasized the importance of easing restrictions for the African continent.

President Ruto expressed his concern about the negative impact of visa requirements on business and free movement within the African continent, stating, “When people cannot , business people cannot travel, entrepreneurs cannot travel, we all become net losers.”

He underscored the need to promote intra-African travel and trade.

As a solution to these challenges, President Ruto made the groundbreaking announcement, saying, “By the end of this year [2023], no African will be required to have a visa to come to Kenya. Our children from this continent should not be locked in borders in Europe and also be locked in borders in Africa.”
