The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, is challenging the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) to substantiate claims of her involvement in the alleged assault on Cape FM journalist David Kobbina during her vetting in Cape Coast.
Describing the media blackout declared by the GJA as unfortunate and not reflective of the facts, MP Mavis Hawa Koomson is considering legal action against GJA President Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour and the Association. She demands a retraction of the media blackout statement or the presentation of evidence proving her alleged assault on the journalist.
In a statement, she expressed surprise at the assault allegations, noting that no one approached her about the issue during her time in Cape Coast for vetting. She challenges the GJA's claim, stating that a thorough investigation into the matter was not conducted before the media blackout was announced.
“I am challenging him to provide evidence of the assault proving that I was behind it or to apologize to me. If not, we will meet in court,” MP Mavis Hawa Koomson told Citi News, emphasizing her commitment to seeking justice and clearing her name.
