Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, a Justice of the Appeals Court, assured the 's Appointments Committee on Wednesday that the E-Justice program is a significant tool in addressing concerns related to emerging technologies, particularly (AI), in the judicial system.

This, he stated, reflects the Judiciary's readiness to tackle challenges associated with the integration of AI.

During his vetting, Justice Kwofie responded to queries from the committee, which raised concerns about the 2023 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (), where the results of some candidates were allegedly withheld due to the use of AI-generated answers.

There have also been accusations against legal professionals leveraging AI in ways that negatively impact cases.

In response, Justice Kwofie assured the committee that the Judiciary is well-equipped to handle such issues.

He highlighted the measures being taken to address technological advancements, emphasizing the importance of the E-Justice program and computerization in adapting to changes in the legal landscape.

“Mr. Chairman, what we are doing to try to catch up is to deal with the issue via the implementation of E-Justice and computerization. Those are the areas. Concerning other areas, such as when the law changes, the judiciary will move in tandem with the movement of the law. We will not be at a standstill because we are also part of society,” he explained.

Justice Kwofie's comments were made during his vetting for nomination to the .

President Nana Addo Dankwa nominated three individuals, including Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, for appointment as Justices of the in November.

The nominations are subject to the advice of the Judicial Council and consultation with the Council of State. Following the vetting, the Appointments Committee is expected to submit a report to the plenary for consideration.
