Former President and Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called for justice and compensation for victims of the violence that erupted during the Ayawaso-West Wuogon by-election, with a particular focus on Isshau Yaro's case.
During a visit to Yaro's residence on Tuesday, April 2, Mahama expressed deep concern over Yaro's condition, emphasizing the devastating impact of the violence on the young man's life.
Mahama highlighted Yaro's incapacitation, stressing that he had been a vibrant and hardworking individual before the incident but had become invalid due to the violence.
Drawing attention to the recommendations of the Commission of Enquiry that investigated the Ayawaso-West Wuogon incident, Mahama urged President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Bawumia to address Yaro's situation promptly.
He reiterated the commission's call for sanctions against those responsible for the violence and emphasized the need for compensation for the victims, including Yaro, who are still suffering from the aftermath of the incident.
Mahama urged the government to show compassion and fulfil its obligation to provide justice and compensation to victims like Yaro, enabling them to rebuild their lives and move forward from the traumatic events of Ayawaso-West Wuogon.
