Hon.Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has held a telephone conversation with South Africa‘s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola, over reports of xenophobic attacks involving Ghanaians.
Hon. Lamola expressed empathy for the victims and assured that full-scale investigations would be conducted into the incidents.

He also indicated that the South African government would brief African ambassadors on the situation.
Hon. Ablakwa said he has been in contact with Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Benjamin Quarshie, to coordinate a response.
He confirmed that the main victim in a viral video has been located and is receiving consular assistance, adding that the individual is in good condition.
He stated that no Ghanaian lives have been lost and urged calm, assuring that the government remains committed to the safety and protection of Ghanaians at home and abroad.
