President John Dramani Mahama and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have agreed to strengthen energy cooperation between Ghana and the UAE.
The discussions took place on the sidelines of the “Make it in the Emirates 2026” summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The two leaders proposed UAE investment in oil and gas storage facilities in Ghana as part of efforts to deepen strategic energy ties.
They also discussed the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and expressed hope for a swift resolution to hostilities between the United States and Iran. The leaders said restoring peace would allow greater focus on sustainable development and innovation.
The discussions also focused on diversifying energy portfolios through alternative approaches, including a transition to Liquefied Natural Gas and solar power to reduce dependence on crude oil.
The leaders further explored ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, renewable energy, innovation, technology and artificial intelligence.
They reaffirmed the longstanding ties between Ghana and the UAE, with the UAE President describing Ghana as a peaceful, secure and stable democracy with opportunities for mutual growth.
Both leaders expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would advance trade, investment and sustainable energy cooperation between the two countries.
