Ghana and Switzerland hold 10th political consultations in Accra

Ghana and Switzerland have held the 10th Session of the Ghana-Switzerland Political Consultations in Accra.

The meeting, held on May 21, 2026, was led by the Chief Director of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Khadija Iddrissu, and Switzerland’s Deputy State Secretary and Head of the Africa Division at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Philipp Stalder.

Senior officials from both countries reviewed bilateral cooperation, discussed regional and global developments and explored ways to strengthen relations between Ghana and Switzerland.

In her remarks, Ambassador Iddrissu said the longstanding relationship between the two countries is built on shared values, peace, security, democracy, multilateralism and the rule of law.

She added that Ghana and Switzerland would continue to collaborate on issues including climate resilience, sustainable agriculture and local governance.

Ambassador Iddrissu also noted that Swiss private sector companies operating in Ghana continue to contribute to economic cooperation between the two countries.

On his part, Ambassador Stalder said Ghana and Switzerland have maintained cordial relations over the years and noted that a significant number of Swiss nationals reside in Ghana.

He described the political consultations as an important platform for both countries to assess bilateral relations and cooperate on issues of mutual interest.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening relations between Ghana and Switzerland.
