i2 Development Ghana Limited, a private developer, has officially commenced the construction of the Prestige Project, a transformative initiative set to enhance the skyline of Kotoka International Airport in Accra.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the project, which aims to redefine luxury living in Ghana's capital, took place on the 2.88 acres of land adjacent to the Airport Shell Fuel Station, directly opposite the Marina Mall.
Over the past two decades, the Airport enclave has witnessed a significant transformation in tandem with the growth of the aviation and hospitality sectors. The Prestige Project is expected to contribute to the aesthetic appeal of the Airport skyline and play a pivotal role in boosting the country's tourism receipts.
Reverend Steve Osei, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Works and Housing, emphasized the government's commitment to collaborating with the private sector to provide housing and commercial properties.
He highlighted the potential for the project to generate both direct and indirect employment opportunities, fostering economic development and opening up the country to tourism.
Mr. Nabil Al-Ahmad, Chairman of i2 Development Ghana Limited, outlined the project's timeline, stating that it is expected to be completed within three years.
He underscored the significance of modern and sustainable properties near major airports, emphasizing their role in supporting tourism, aviation, and related industries.
The Chairman noted that strategically locating plush residential properties and hotels near airports provides convenient access for travelers, reducing stress and saving time. This convenience encourages more visitors to explore Ghana, ultimately leading to increased tourism and economic growth.
The Prestige Project aligns with ongoing investments in on-ground airport infrastructure at Kotoka International Airport, showcasing a commitment to enhancing both the functionality and aesthetic appeal of the airport and its surrounding areas.
