Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong, a nominee, urged to carefully consider all comments on the “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2022” and formulate a law that benefits every Ghanaian.

Speaking during his vetting at 's Appointment Committee, Justice Adjei-Frimpong emphasized his commitment to applying the law as a judge.

“…Thank you, Honourable Chair, I have followed the debate and the comments, and so, my position on it is what the law says. Because as a judge, I must be obedient to the law. Fortunately, the law is in this House, and comments are being made by stakeholders. I expect that this honourable House will consider all the comments and the issues that have come out so that at the end of the day, they will come out with a law that will be of benefit to every Ghanaian,” he stated.

Justice Adjei-Frimpong made this statement in response to a question from Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam and Minority Leader.

Dr. Forson inquired about the potential discrimination against minority sexual groups if the law was passed.

The “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill, 2022” aims to provide for proper human sexual rights and Ghanaian family values while prohibiting + and related activities.

President Nana Addo Dankwa nominated three individuals for appointment as Justices of the in November, including Justice Henry Anthony Kwofie, Justice Yaw Asare Darko, and Justice Richard Adjei-Frimpong.

The nominations followed the constitutional process, involving consultation with the Judicial Council and the Council of State.

After the vetting, the Committee, chaired by Mr. Joseph Osei-Owusu, the Second Deputy Speaker and New Patriotic Party MP for , is expected to submit a report to the plenary for consideration
