Education Ministry approves NHIS sensitisation and SHS quiz programme

The Ministry of Education, Ghana, has approved a nationwide NHIS sensitisation programme and inter-regional quiz competition for Senior High Schools.

The decision was taken by the Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, following a meeting with the National Health Insurance Authority led by its Chief Executive Officer, Victor Asare Bampoe.

The initiative, to be implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service, will engage Senior High School students nationwide to improve understanding of the NHIS and promote responsible health-seeking behaviour.

The programme will run from May to November 2026 and will feature selected schools across all regions, with participants tested on key aspects of the scheme in support of Universal Health Coverage.
