The Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, has launched Phase II of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Volta Regional Press Centre project in Ho, calling on members and stakeholders to support its early completion.
He described the project as a symbol of the Association’s identity, legacy, and spirit in the region, stressing that no contribution was too small. “Let us show by example by contributing to the project before inviting the business community for support. Let us do it together, so that together we can be proud,” he said.

The Minister appealed to development partners, businesses, and individuals to contribute towards the commissioning of the facility on May 3, 2026, to coincide with World Press Freedom Day. To demonstrate his commitment, he donated 100 bags of cement, 1,000 pieces of concrete blocks, two trips of sand, one trip of chippings, and GH¢20,000.
In his address, Dr. Harrison Kofi Belley, Chairman of GJA-Volta, described the event as a crucial step in advancing the Association’s mission and announced that the completed Press Centre would feature a 120-seater conference room, boardroom, executive offices, and a reception area.
He credited the Ho Office of Architectural and Engineering Services Limited (AESL) for designing the project and acknowledged the contributions of his predecessors. Immediate Past Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Agbaxode, also pledged his support.
Numerous cash and in-kind pledges were made during the launch, while a nine-member Project Management Committee, chaired by Dr. Belley, was inaugurated to oversee the project, which is scheduled for completion in May 2026.
